FAQs
What is Smart Treasury and how does it work?
Smart Treasury is our automated cash management system and our alternative to a high-yield savings account. Smart Treasury allocates your available funds to a government money market fund (we call them "Treasury Money Market Funds") within our lineup offering your highest anticipated after-tax yield based on your specific tax profile. We continuously monitor our available yields and may rebalance your allocation to seek to enhance earnings while maintaining low risk and liquidity.
How do I begin using Smart Treasury?
Open the Titan mobile app, tap the Transfer button (middle icon), select "Buy,” “Sell,” or “Withdraw," then choose "Smart Treasury" and follow the prompts. We'll ask about your income, tax filing status, and state of residence to help identify your highest anticipated after-tax yield among our offerings.
What does Smart Treasury cost?
Smart Treasury charges a 0.40% annual advisory fee (billed monthly) on assets under management. See our Fee Schedule for more information. The funds also have underlying expenses to cover items such as operating costs, which are charged by the fund providers and not by Titan, though all advertised yields are shown net of those fund expenses.
How do withdrawals work?
Smart Treasury is highly liquid, allowing you to request a withdrawal at any time. Withdrawals from these money market funds are not subject to maturity dates and are typically completed within 3-4 business days. You can read more about withdrawal timing here.
How does Smart Treasury optimize for taxes?
Smart Treasury analyzes your income bracket, filing status, and state residency to help identify a Treasury Money Market Fund that may offer state tax exemptions on your earnings. Federal taxes on earnings still apply. Smart Treasury's assessment does not include local taxes, though earnings from U.S. Treasuries and other government securities are typically exempt from both state and local taxes. The system may automatically rebalance if it identifies a fund in our lineup offering a higher anticipated after-tax yield based on current market conditions and your tax profile.
What level of safety does Smart Treasury provide?
Smart Treasury consists exclusively of Treasury Money Market Funds that primarily invest in Treasuries and other U.S. government securities backed by the full faith and credit of the U.S. government. These investments generally carry minimal credit risk and aim to maintain stable net asset values.
How does Smart Treasury work with other Titan investments?
Depending on your needs and goals, Smart Treasury investments can serve as available capital for when you're ready to invest in other Titan investment strategies, or as a place to allocate your capital that is generally considered low-risk with the goal of earning interest. It may also be considered for building a rainy day fund or setting aside capital for short-term purchase goals.
Disclosures
*Yield is as of 11/3/25. This represents the highest 7-Day Yield currently available among our options. Certain funds have specific investment minimums, which can be up to $3,000. Investors who invest amounts below these minimums may experience lower yields than those advertised. Yields are subject to change and will fluctuate over time. Please note that the yield is gross of the annual Advisory Fee of 0.40%.
Smart Treasury consists of money market funds that primarily invest in U.S. Treasury and other U.S. government securities. It invests your cash in the money market fund that aims to provide you with your highest anticipated after-tax yield among our options, taking into account factors such as your state of residence, tax filing status, adjusted gross income (or "taxable income"), and investment amount. When Titan refers to the ‘highest’ or 'best' yield, or uses terms such as "optimize,” "higher,” or “better," we are specifically referring to the highest anticipated yield available through the options offered within Smart Treasury. These terms reflect an algorithm-driven process based on the client’s tax profile and do not represent a guarantee of improved performance or earnings. Any advertised 7-day yields of the money market funds in Smart Treasury are not guaranteed, do not forecast future earnings, and are subject to market conditions. While these advertised yields are net of the money market fund's fee expenses, they are not net of Titan's annual Advisory Fee of 0.40%, as dividend payments from a money market fund are issued directly and do not automatically account for these Titan fees. Any earnings estimates provided by Titan account for the annual Advisory Fee. Investments in Smart Treasury are not deposits, are not FDIC insured, and are not bank guaranteed—unlike traditional and high-yield savings accounts or other non-investment accounts. They are subject to regular-way trade settlement periods and brokerage procedures, which can delay the availability of cash for withdrawal compared to non-investment accounts. Non-investment accounts generally offer faster access to cash due to quicker liquidity and are more readily transferable to your bank account. Please keep these differences in mind when determining the best option for managing your short-term liquidity needs.
