Q: Why does every portfolio hold 20% cash instead of 20% T-bills or some money market instrument?
Super interesting idea — after the launch of Titan Treasury, we have been actively exploring this. In order to earn competitive yield, there are some liquidity barriers to consider. The market has proven to be historically volatile and we want our cash to be as liquid and available as possible to take advantage of market swings/opportunity. With that said, this is something we've been considering and will report back with any updates if/when we have anything.
Q: What does Europe’s new crypto regulation mean for the US?
As we mentioned in Three Things this morning, the EU signed off on the world’s first comprehensive set of guidelines to regulate the crypto industry. The Markets in Crypto Assets (MiCA) will require crypto firms to be licensed to serve customers and to comply with new AML laws. Crypto firms in the US have shown support for the rules and are looking for consistency with global norms for cross-border activity. Given our lack of progress in the regulatory space so far despite turmoil and instability in crypto markets this year, many are hoping the US will follow in Europe’s footsteps with a similar framework. As we've said in the past, we believe regulation will be a positive for the industry.
Q: Is Netflix a buy now after their advertising results?
The streaming service announced it had five million monthly active users for its cheaper, ad-supported option and 25% of its new subscribers were signing up for the tier in areas where it’s available. Media companies across the ecosystem, once focused on subscriber additions for their fledgling streaming services, have now pivoted their attention toward making the businesses profitable. Initial data seems promising and we'll be monitoring these trends closely as the ad-supported tier roles out more broadly.
