What is an AB60 driver license?
Under AB60, the DMV is required to issue a driver license to an undocumented immigrant who can prove identity and state residency AND meets all requirements of the bill, including a written and driving test.
When will AB60 licenses become available?
Licenses become available on January 1st, 2015.
How much will the AB60 license cost?
A driver license under AB60 costs the same as it does for all other drivers.
What documents do I need to get an AB60 driver license?
Applicants must submit sufficient proof of identity and California residency. The California DMV currently has document options guidelines published on their website, but is also required "to develop regulations and consult with interested parties in an effort to assist the department in identifying documents that will be acceptable for the purposes of providing documentation to establish identity and residency."
What are the auto insurance requirements with an AB60 driver license?
The State of California has minimum requirements for auto liability insurance that must be met by all drivers. Drivers must carry $15K for personal injury/death to one person, $30K for injury/death to more than one person, and $5K for damage to property.
