Titan Press Release
PointCast and The Titan Corporation Partner
to Build Intranet Solution to Broadcast
Performance Metrics for FAA's Air Traffic Service

Corporate Channel Supports Government Agency's
Efforts to Comply with The Government Performance
and Results Act

SAN DIEGO (June 29, 1998) -- Titan Corporation (NYSE: TTN), an innovative leader in communication and information technologies, and PointCast Incorporated, the leading broadcaster of personalized news and information to business consumers, have partnered to build an intranet solution for the Air Traffic Service organization of the Federal Aviation Administration. The customized channel, called the "Executive Information System", will deliver time-sensitive data essential to day-to-day management as well as long-term planning of the air traffic system. The FAA's Air Traffic Service is responsible for air traffic control operations throughout the United States and encompasses more than 24,000 employees and 500 facilities nationwide.

PointCast is setting a new standard for news and information delivery in the workplace through its Intranet Broadcast Solution. PointCast's Intranet Broadcast Solution enables companies to broadcast internal news directly. Titan Software Systems, a subsidiary of Titan, is one of PointCast's 5 Premier Solution Partners trained and certified to install and deploy the solution. More than 40 corporations have deployed at least 500 desktops using PointCast's Intranet Broadcast Solution, such as Bank of America, DuPont, Goodyear, MCI and Proctor & Gamble.

David Dorman, CEO of PointCast, noted, "We're pleased that PointCast is the internal communications interface for an organization as important as the FAA's Air Traffic Service. As with all of the corporation applications of PointCast, the channel is customized in order to fully automate and smooth out the processes of making available critical alert, performance and resource information throughout an organization. We expect that the combined effort with Titan will result in an ideal solution for the FAA."

The PointCast and Titan-developed system is now accessible by many of the agency's executives, regional management, and staff via their computer desktops. The project was commissioned by the FAA Service, in part, to track compliance with The Government Performance and Results Act, initiated by Vice President Gore and passed by Congress in 1995. The Act mandates that all government agencies eventually transform into performance-driven, customer-oriented organizations.

Phase one of the intranet solution, key performance metrics and rollout to regional and headquarters executives, will be complete this month, with the second phase of extended development already underway.

Gene W. Ray, President and CEO of Titan, explained, "Already the feedback we've received from FAA executives is extremely positive, to the point that they're requesting more corporate data be broadcast on the system. The PointCast interface is user friendly, and because we've designed the channel so that the information is well displayed and easily accessible, we anticipate that the Air Traffic Service will receive significant return on investment."

System Reports Air Traffic Activity; Aids Management in Monitoring Trends

The PointCast and Titan-developed channel currently broadcasts a variety of data intended to aid management in making decisions for the Air Traffic Service. Decision support alerts, such as trends in traffic operation and aircraft delays, air traffic facility evaluations; and content from Aviation Daily, an aviation industry newsletter, are among the offerings. Users can also access PointCast's Government channel of news and information, and link to aviation Web sites.

As Titan designed the channel to be flexible and expandable, the System will soon feature FAA charts and graphs highlighting the allocation of financial resources, budget cycles, and human resource data, in addition to other important agency data. The intranet broadcast solution built for the FAA's Air Traffic Service is based on customized versions of Titan's Intranet Broadcast PageBuilder and PointCast Broadcast tools, Microsoft's Internet Explorer browser, and a platform that utilizes Windows NT, Microsoft Active Server Pages, and an Oracle server.
